This is how Academic Bridge was born — not as a new organization, but as the natural continuation of a story that began more than fifty years ago.
From the 1970s until the early 2000s, Romania was a respected center of education that welcomed tens of thousands of young people from across Africa, Asia, the Arab world, and Europe.
Students came from countries such as Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Congo, Vietnam, China, India, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Moldova, and many others. They studied medicine, engineering, architecture, agronomy, computer science, and many other fields.
They learned the Romanian language. They lived among Romanian families. They shared meals, formed deep friendships, and experienced Romanian life — from university halls to hospital practice and everyday moments around the table.
These young people did not only receive an education in Romania. They were shaped by it.
